Software Engineer - Agentic Engineering

About the role

P&C Re Engineering is looking for a Software Engineer to build and evolve the AI and agentic systems behind its reinsurance business, across Claims, Treaty and Facultative lines. This is a hands-on engineering role for someone who enjoys shipping production software and wants to work at the frontier of applied AI. The engineer owns the software behind a line's AI systems and leads its development toward genuinely agentic systems.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain, refactor and extend the line's AI applications and services in production
• Build agentic-friendly software: the tools, services and workflows that LLM-based agents call
• Design AI workflows combining models, prompts, tools, enterprise data and business logic
• Validate model behaviour, outputs and assumptions from a production and business-use perspective
• Design and maintain evaluation frameworks for AI/LLM systems, including test suites and human evaluation workflows
• Write evaluations and quality checks for agent behaviour, and build in grounding and assurance
• Ensure reliability, scalability, cost control and latency optimisation, and help bring new agentic systems into production

Required profile

• Strong software engineering: a modern language (Python, TypeScript or Java/Kotlin), clean code, automated testing and CI/CD
• A forward-deployed engineer mindset, understanding the business problem and driving pragmatic decisions
• Ability to pick up and improve an existing codebase
• Exposure to data science methods in validating AI models
• Plus: hands-on agentic/LLM application development, Palantir Foundry/AIP, insurance or reinsurance domain exposure, and cloud AI services such as Azure AI

Required skills

• Modern programming languages: Python, TypeScript, Java or Kotlin
• API, service and integration engineering
• Familiarity with LLM patterns (prompting, RAG, tool/function calling) and agentic development
• Agentic coding harnesses (e.g. Claude Code) and Linux/cloud environments

The base salary range for Slovakia is EUR 2,400 to EUR 4,100 per month for a full-time role, plus a performance-based variable component and global and location-specific benefits.
