Indirect Tax Risk & Assurance Manager – International Tax Controllership

About the role

Amazon is looking for an Indirect Tax Risk & Assurance Manager to join the International Indirect Tax Controllership (IITXC) team. The role sits in the Second Line of Defense of Amazon’s Tax Governance, Risk and Assurance program and provides independent oversight of indirect tax controls across Amazon’s international operations.

Key responsibilities

• Execute deep‑dive reviews of indirect tax risk areas and business programs to understand processes, systems, data flows and control mechanisms.
• Design and perform independent testing of operating controls, including methodology selection, evidence collection and sampling.
• Analyze operational and transactional data to identify gaps, weaknesses or inconsistencies and provide actionable recommendations.
• Interpret assurance testing results, collaborate with Tax Planning to assess risk profiles and determine residual risk postures.
• Read and interpret indirect tax requirements and assess their implementation accuracy in operational processes.
• Partner with Tax Planning, Tax Compliance, Internal Audit and operational risk teams to ensure consistent application of indirect tax governance.

Required profile

• Strong knowledge of international indirect tax regulations and requirements.
• Experience conducting risk assessments and assurance testing in a tax or finance environment.
• Ability to work across multiple regions and business lines, excluding North America.
• Proven analytical skills to evaluate control effectiveness and interpret data.
