Indirect Tax Risk & Assurance Analyst, International Indirect Tax Controllership

About the role

Amazon is looking for an Indirect Tax Risk & Assurance Analyst to join the International Indirect Tax Controllership (IITXC) team. The role sits in the Second Line of Defense, providing independent oversight, assurance testing and risk reporting for Amazon’s global indirect tax operations.

Key responsibilities

• Extract and test operational and transactional data to evaluate 2LoD risk.
• Analyse and manipulate extremely large data sets using analytical tools.
• Interpret testing results, assess impact on the risk profile and collaborate on remediation actions.
• Oversee remediation activities and generate leadership metrics.
• Design and implement additional testing plans based on findings.
• Identify opportunities to improve controls, monitoring and operational risk practices.
• Leverage AI and develop tools to scale assurance activities.
• Consult with Tax Planning experts on indirect tax implications of test results.

Required profile

• Proven ability to analyse operational data, spot control gaps and recommend risk mitigation.
• Experience with data‑analytics or BI platforms (advanced Excel, basic SQL, QuickSight, Tableau).
• Strong interest in technology and AI, capable of working on automated control design or GenAI‑assisted workflows.
• Background in multi‑jurisdictional environments with complex indirect tax (VAT) obligations.
• Excellent communication skills for conveying complex tax and risk concepts.
