Software Engineer – Python

About the role

ESET is looking for a Python‑focused Software Engineer to join its Automated Systems and Solutions Department in Brno or Bratislava. You will work closely with malware researchers and analysts to build and maintain large‑scale platforms that support threat detection and intelligence operations.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and improve internal tools for malware researchers and detection technologies.
• Implement scalable services for processing and classifying massive volumes of files.
• Build and maintain scanning services, automation frameworks and data‑processing pipelines.
• Contribute to ESET’s threat intelligence products and participate in code reviews.
• Collaborate on system architecture, optimisation and reliability initiatives.
• Automate processes to increase operational efficiency and system reliability.
• Own projects from concept through implementation and deployment.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Cybersecurity or a related technical field.
• Minimum 2 years of professional Python development experience.
• Strong knowledge of data processing and relational databases (MySQL or PostgreSQL).
• Experience with Redis, Linux and Windows environments.
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab) and version control (Git).
• Experience with container technologies such as Docker.
• Good communication skills in English and ability to work collaboratively.
