Nuclear & Radiological Safety Expert for AI Model Audit

About the role

SME Careers is building a small expert panel to audit how AI models answer nuclear and radiological safety questions. You will evaluate model responses, classify request types, assess safety, rank models and draft the correct answer, ensuring the outputs are accurate and reliable.

Key responsibilities

• Classify each user request as benign, dual‑use or adversarial and evaluate model answers for safety.
• Mark each model response as safe or unsafe, provide justification, and rank the three models.
• Write the appropriate answer the model should have given, including sensitivity notes for dual‑use requests.

Required profile

• Nuclear engineers, reactor physicists, safeguards or non‑proliferation specialists, health physicists, radiation safety officers, radiochemists, or former military/government nuclear personnel.
• Relevant degree and at least five years of professional experience in nuclear or radiological fields.
• Experience reviewing technical work against standards or conducting AI red‑team assessments is a strong plus.
