Data Engineer – Asset Management

About the role

Swiss Re is looking for a Data Engineer to join its Information Delivery team within Asset Management Digital & Tech, based in Bratislava. The team powers the flow of data across the organisation, ingesting, transforming, enriching and cleansing data so that it is accurate, accessible and actionable. The Data Engineer works closely with Product Teams to co-create, extend and maintain data-enabled services, from design to implementation and operation.

Key responsibilities

• Develop data-enabled products with colleagues across Asset Management, aligned with the reference architecture and design principles
• Assess and define requirements and turn them into design artefacts
• Implement advanced use cases and build prototypes
• Create and maintain automated test cases and regression test suites
• Maintain solution documentation and plan deployments, including risk and impact analysis
• Promote agile collaboration and support team members' growth

Required profile

• Strong understanding of data modelling, ETL processes and data warehousing
• Hands-on experience with data processing frameworks such as PySpark, Polars and Pandas
• Strong Python skills and SQL, preferably with PostgreSQL
• Experience with Palantir Foundry, Databricks or similar
• Knowledge of automated testing, data quality controls and version control
• Fluent English, entrepreneurial and team-oriented, with good communication skills
• Nice to have: Agile methods, MSBI, software architecture knowledge and DevSecOps

What we offer

• Base salary in Slovakia of EUR 2,400 to 4,100 per month for a full-time role, plus a performance-based variable component
