Staff DevOps / Infrastructure Engineer

About the role

Bloomreach is expanding its Infrastructure team and is looking for a Staff DevOps / Infrastructure Engineer. The team operates and maintains Bloomreach's core infrastructure on Google Cloud, managing large components such as Kubernetes, databases and cloud services, while supporting developers, reviewing design proposals and validating application performance and availability. The role is full-time and can be done from home or from one of the Central Europe offices (Bratislava, Brno, Prague).

Key responsibilities

• Work with other engineering teams to design sustainable infrastructure, microservice solutions and a robust production environment.
• Own the design and specification of infrastructure initiatives, break them down into tasks and lead projects spanning multiple teams.
• Automate tools and infrastructure to reduce manual work.
• Monitor applications and take part in an on-call rotation as required.
• Use AI assistants as part of the toolkit, while retaining full understanding and accountability for what is shipped.

Required profile

• At least 5 years of production experience.
• Experience leading projects across teams, delivering independently and onboarding and training new team members.
• Hands-on experience configuring Kubernetes security contexts, network policies, pod affinity, HPA/VPAs and upgrading cluster versions without downtime.
• Experience writing Terraform modules with interconnected resources, and setting up monitoring and alerts (Grafana and Prometheus preferred).
• Active interest in Kubernetes, participation in DevOps conferences, and a clear approach to using AI as a tool rather than a replacement.

• Kubernetes (GKE), Terraform and GitLab
• Google Cloud (preferred) or AWS/Azure, including Cloud SQL, BigQuery, Bigtable, Dataflow and Pub/Sub
• Python and Go, including reviewing AI-generated code
• Self-hosted stack: MongoDB, Kafka, Elasticsearch, Etcd, Victoria Metrics, InfluxDB, Sentry

• Salary range of EUR 48,800 to 61,000, adjusted for skills, location and experience.
