Senior VAT Specialist

About the role

Spin Master is seeking a Senior VAT Specialist to join its Finance team. Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will be responsible for VAT and Intrastat compliance across EMEA entities, ensuring accurate reporting and timely filing.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and file regular VAT returns in line with local regulations.
• Report and file monthly Intrastat returns for dispatches and arrivals.
• Investigate unusual accounting entries, verify VAT coding, and coordinate corrective actions.
• Prepare month‑end VAT reconciliations and post VAT journals as needed.
• Map VAT/Intrastat processes, identify improvement opportunities and support automation.
• Maintain internal controls and provide audit support for VAT/Intrastat activities.
• Manage relationships with auditors, tax advisors, consulting firms and local tax authorities.
• Support supply‑chain teams on import/export VAT and customs duty issues.
• Assist with VAT registrations in new territories and implement local compliance processes.
• Forecast VAT payments/repayments for cash‑flow planning and support tax authority audits.
• Monitor regulatory changes, advise management on tax implications, and participate in cross‑functional projects.

Required profile

• Recognised accounting or tax qualification (e.g., ACCA, ACA, ATT, CTA).
• Minimum 5 years of experience in VAT advisory or compliance, preferably within a mid‑to‑large consumer‑goods or retail organisation.
• Strong knowledge of VAT and Intrastat regulations across the EMEA region.
• Experience handling large data volumes and producing analytical reports.

Required skills

• SAP (including DRC functionality) proficiency.
• Advanced MS Office skills, particularly Excel.
• Data manipulation and report‑writing capabilities.
