Senior Operational Excellence Lead

About the role

Swiss Re is hiring a Senior Operational Excellence Lead in Bratislava to transform how its Global Operations function operates end-to-end, with a focus on operational control design and automation and business solution design. Working across process, systems and data, the role strengthens operational effectiveness through smarter controls, process simplification and technology-enabled solutions, partnering with Operations Run, Risk & Compliance and Digital & Technology.

Key responsibilities

• Drive operational control design and automation, assess existing controls and develop preventive and detective control solutions embedded in processes.
• Translate complex operational challenges and control requirements into business solution designs and functional specifications.
• Partner with Operations Run, Risk & Compliance, Digital & Technology and external advisors to develop scalable automation solutions.
• Lead solution development from requirements definition through design, testing, implementation and adoption, ensuring measurable outcomes.
• Identify process optimization and technology-enabled improvement opportunities, including emerging technologies.
• Build relationships with senior Operations Run stakeholders and cross-functional partners, and contribute to operating model improvements.
• Set measures to monitor control effectiveness, process adherence and transformation benefits.

Required profile

• Proven experience in operational control design, process risk mitigation or control automation in a complex financial services or operational environment.
• Understanding of preventive and detective controls and experience improving them through process redesign and automation.
• Ability to analyze end-to-end processes and turn control requirements into functional specifications and technology solutions.
• Experience working with technology teams on solution design, testing and integration.
• Experience collaborating across Operations, Risk & Compliance and Technology, and delivering projects independently.
• Fluent English, written and spoken.

Nice to have

• Commercial insurance, reinsurance or financial services experience.
• Familiarity with internal control frameworks and operational risk management.
• Workflow automation, business rules engines, Lean Six Sigma, Agile or data-driven process improvement experience.
• Experience across multiple geographies and cultures.

What we offer

• Monthly base salary of 3,300 to 5,400 EUR for a full-time role in Slovakia.
• Possible performance-based bonus, depending on policy and contract terms.
• Hybrid work model, with at least 50% office presence expected.
