Junior Claims Handler

About the role

Starr, a global insurance and investment organisation providing property and casualty insurance to business and industry, is hiring a Junior Claims Handler. The role combines claims administration and claims handling and offers a chance to build a foundation in the insurance industry. It suits people keen to learn about many insurance lines and to work in an international environment. Over time, the successful candidate can develop into a full Claims Handler supporting Eastern European claims operations.

Key responsibilities

• Claims processing support: assist in taking new claims, collecting and recording required documentation, entering claim data into the claims management system and registering payments and reserves.
• Claims management: handle straightforward all-lines claims from notification to settlement, gather and review documentation and evidence, assess coverage and liability within delegated authority limits, appoint and manage external experts, surveyors and adjusters, maintain accurate reserves, negotiate settlements and keep claims files up to date.
• Customer and broker service: communicate promptly with brokers, insureds and internal stakeholders, manage customer expectations and support positive outcomes while balancing policy and business needs.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a similar role and local claims knowledge.
• University graduate.
• Bilingual (English and Slovakian); Polish is preferable.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
