Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) - Open Source Databases

About the role

Erste Digital, part of Erste Group, the largest banking group in Central and Eastern Europe, is looking for a Site Reliability Engineer with PostgreSQL and cloud database experience. The role supports reliable, secure and scalable database services, working across database administration, cloud operations and reliability engineering to keep PostgreSQL services running in AWS and Google Cloud environments.

Key responsibilities

• Administer PostgreSQL databases across development, testing and production environments.
• Perform database configuration, patching, upgrades, backups and recovery.
• Monitor health, availability, performance, capacity and resource usage.
• Troubleshoot issues, support incident resolution, root cause analysis and problem management.
• Support security, access management, auditing and compliance tasks.
• Support high availability and disaster recovery solutions.
• Create and maintain scripts, automation and Infrastructure as Code practices.
• Improve monitoring, logging, alerting and observability across AWS and Google Cloud.

Required profile

• Active experience in the last 2-4 years administering PostgreSQL, cloud databases or infrastructure in production.
• Knowledge of PostgreSQL administration, backup and recovery, performance tuning and database operations.
• Experience writing and troubleshooting SQL queries.
• Experience with managed database services in AWS and/or Google Cloud.
• Understanding of cloud infrastructure, networking, storage, security, high availability and disaster recovery.
• Experience with scripting languages such as Bash or Python and basic Linux/Unix administration.
• Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code, automation tools, DevOps practices and CI/CD concepts.
