Senior Software Engineer – Railway Signaling Systems (On‑Board)

About the role

As a Senior Software Engineer at Siemens Mobility you will develop and maintain safety‑critical railway signalling software for the Trainguard Zub242t system. You will work on an established train protection solution for Berlin while preparing future railway technologies.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, maintain and enhance on‑board signalling and train protection software.
• Analyse, troubleshoot and improve legacy code written in Pascal86 and C++.
• Support system‑level analysis and make architectural decisions.
• Collaborate with system engineers, architects, testers and project teams.
• Contribute to technical documentation and ensure long‑term product sustainability.
• Participate in train test runs and field validation activities, occasionally on‑site in Germany.
• Gradually assume architectural ownership of the Zub242t system and support upcoming customer projects.

Required profile

• Strong software development experience in Pascal86 and C++.
• Proven ability to analyse and maintain complex legacy code bases.
• Excellent analytical, troubleshooting and independent working skills.
• Good communication in English and German.
• Willingness to travel occasionally for testing and validation.
