Senior Software Engineer (Java Backend Developer)

About the role

Erste Digital, part of Erste Group, the largest banking group in Central and Eastern Europe, is looking for an engaged Java Backend Developer. The team is cross-functional and takes part in feature ideation from concept and planning through implementation and shipping. The role focuses on corporate banking services.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, deploy and operate a microservice architecture platform for corporate banking services, with a focus on high availability, scalability and low latency.
• Build and maintain cloud-ready services on top of Oracle and PostgreSQL databases.
• Take operational responsibility for the services owned by your team in a DevOps manner.
• Work with other software engineers, data analysts and decision-makers such as product owners to build solutions and gain new insights.

Required profile

• 3+ years of active recent experience with Spring, Spring Boot and Java/Jakarta Enterprise applications, and familiarity with microservices challenges.
• Recent active experience designing and building distributed, scalable systems on Kubernetes/OpenShift in a DevOps manner.
• Knowledge of engineering practices such as continuous delivery, defensive programming and automated testing.
• Professional experience in a product-driven environment.
