Senior Network Architect
Swiss Re · Bratislava
Job description
About the role
Swiss Re is looking for a Senior Network Architect to join its global Network Connectivity team in Bratislava. The role defines architecture standards and strategic roadmaps across DDI, network segmentation, Cisco enterprise platforms, security and observability, and guides complex solutions from concept through implementation. It combines architecture ownership with hands-on technical depth, working with engineering, operations, cyber security and external IT service providers.
Key responsibilities
- Own and evolve the architecture and lifecycle of DDI services based on EfficientIP, including DNS, DHCP and IPAM, resilience, disaster recovery, integrations, security controls and automation.
- Define macro- and micro-segmentation concepts, including security zones, VRFs, VLANs, access control and integration with firewall and network access control platforms.
- Provide architecture leadership for Cisco platforms such as Cisco ISE, Catalyst Center (DNAC), TACACS+, RADIUS, enterprise switching, routing and network access control.
- Define network security and firewall integration principles, including management-plane security, administrative access, policy governance, logging and secure connectivity patterns.
- Shape network and service observability using SNMP, telemetry, syslog, flow data and application monitoring.
- Lead architecture reviews, technology evaluations, PoCs, standards development, product roadmaps and lifecycle decisions.
- Act as a senior technical escalation point and promote API-driven and Infrastructure-as-Code approaches.
- Maintain architecture documentation, reference designs, decision records, implementation standards and handover material.
Required profile
- Extensive enterprise network architecture and engineering experience, with end-to-end design, integration and lifecycle management.
- Comfortable in a global, multicultural environment, able to take end-to-end ownership and share knowledge across teams.
- Strong collaboration, customer orientation, sound judgment and clear technical communication.
Required skills
- Macro- and micro-segmentation, VRFs, VLANs, ACLs, identity- or policy-based access control.
- DDI platforms, preferably EfficientIP (DNS, DHCP, IPAM).
- Cisco ISE, Catalyst Center (DNAC), TACACS+, RADIUS, 802.1X and MAB.
- Routing and connectivity: TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, SD-WAN, VPN or overlay networking.
- Firewall management and network security principles.
- Cisco certification (e.g. CCNP Enterprise/DataCenter, CCIE) strongly preferred; network automation and cloud networking experience are advantages.
The base salary for Slovakia is EUR 3,800 to EUR 6,300 per month for a full-time role, depending on profile and requirements, with possible performance-based bonus.
