Senior Data Engineer with Google Cloud (GCP)

About the role

Deutsche Telekom IT Solutions Slovakia is strengthening its MusGKteers team in the Data Value Stream – B2B Analytics with a Senior Data Engineer. The engineer develops, builds, tests and maintains architectures such as databases and large-scale processing systems, working closely with the business's Data and Analytics teams to gather technical requirements for data governance. The main mission is to migrate the current architecture (ODW and ODL) to the Google Cloud Platform (GCP) as part of a future-proof data warehouse landscape.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse complex data elements, flows, dependencies and relationships to contribute to conceptual, physical and logical data models.
• Design, build, implement and maintain database structures, including integrating vendor database solutions into the data environment.
• Contribute to capacity planning for hardware, software and database configuration.
• Manage the lifecycle of database tools, enabling upgrades and installation of new capabilities.
• Clean, manipulate and blend data from multiple sources, including data mining.
• Develop and manage scalable data processing platforms for exploratory analysis and real-time analytics.
• Oversee junior data engineers and ensure alignment with business objectives.

Required profile

• Solid knowledge of Python and PySpark.
• Experience designing and engineering DWH/BI solutions, including data modelling.
• Understanding of data historization and hands-on DevOps experience.
• Familiarity with CI/CD using GitLab and UML for modelling.
• Agile experience (LeSS or Scrum) and experience in intercultural or nearshore projects.
• Very good English (B2); German is an advantage.
• Willingness to travel to and within Germany.

Required skills

• Google Cloud Platform: BigQuery, Dataform, BigLake, Vertex AI, Google Cloud Storage, Cloud Composer/Airflow, Dataproc.
• Nice to have: Meta-model-based frameworks (e.g. Innovator), Power BI, AI-based forecasting, end-to-end solution design.
