Deputy Chief Technology Officer – Trading Firm

About the role

The Deputy CTO partners with the CTO to lead day‑to‑day operations of a global engineering organization in a fast‑growing digital‑asset trading firm. The role combines operational leadership, platform modernization, data governance and regulatory compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Run day‑to‑day global engineering operations, own OKRs, monthly business reviews and delivery pipelines.
• Lead multi‑year trading platform consolidation across 80+ venues and 1,400+ markets, delivering latency and deployment improvements.
• Own execution of security and regulatory commitments (MiCA, DORA, SOC 2) and foster a controls‑by‑design engineering culture.
• Manage the global engineering budget, vendor relationships, M&A integrations and mentor divisional VPs.

Required profile

• Proven ability to design and run engineering operating models for global teams.
• Experience challenging senior architects and making decisive trade‑offs under constraints.
• Exceptional executive communication translating technical risks, budgets and timelines to leadership.
• Expertise translating security strategies into practical engineering workflows and compliance outcomes.

Required skills

• Low‑latency distributed systems and algorithmic trading infrastructure.
• Digital‑asset market structure (CEX/DEX), custody and on‑chain settlement.
• Familiarity with Rust (strong plus).
• Knowledge of regulatory frameworks MiCA, DORA and SOC 2.
