Big Data Engineer for Business Data

About the role

Erste Digital, the digital unit of Erste Group, the largest banking group in Central and Eastern Europe, is looking for a Big Data Engineer for Business Data in Bratislava. The Group Data Acquisition department acts as the main integration point for data coming from group data systems, local AT banks and CEE countries, and supports business partners and users with BI, regulatory and non-regulatory analytics.

Key responsibilities

• Build the Data Lake and other Databricks-based solutions so they are usable and beneficial for the bank
• Develop cloud-based solutions and build the know-how of cloud technologies
• Support data lake consumers with free-form analytics, data discovery and data-science activities
• Acquire data from local AT banks, CEE countries and group source systems
• Act as the first data quality gate, ensuring data meets predefined constraints and rules
• Integrate and implement ETL processes for batch and streaming data within Databricks
• Contribute to the architecture and design of the Databricks-based Data Lake
• Collaborate with business and IT users on AI, machine learning, data science, BI and data warehouse topics
• Identify and implement improvements that increase stability, robustness and future extendibility of the solution

Required profile

• Passion for data and technical disciplines
• Reliable, self-driven and responsible for the final outcome, with attention to quality and efficiency
• Experience with data ingestion procedures
• Fluent Slovak and English, including spoken communication

Required skills

• Knowledge of cloud technologies
• Proficiency in Python and SQL
• Strong analytical skills with keen attention to detail
