AI / Data Science Engineer I

About the role

Medtronic, a global healthcare technology company, is looking for an AI Developer / Data Science Engineer early in their career to build practical AI solutions that improve productivity in clinical and regulatory operations. The role sits in the Technology Enablement team of the Clinical, Medical, Regulatory & Safety organisation, works mainly within MCRS and collaborates with Clinical Operations, Regulatory Global Support and other clinical functions. It is a remote position based in Slovakia.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop AI-driven productivity solutions using tools such as OpenAI / Azure OpenAI, CustomGPTs, Microsoft Copilot, Copilot Studio, Power Automate and Power Apps.
• Build and maintain desktop and hosted AI solutions, improving operational efficiency and keeping them stable, usable and sustainable.
• Support a small community of citizen developers with guidance, troubleshooting and reusable templates, and take part in Product Information Chatbot working groups.
• Help define internal standards, templates and governance practices for AI solutions, in line with Medtronic's data privacy, security and responsible AI standards.
• Assess new technologies to meet emerging business process needs and drive modernisation in the regulatory function.
• Manage a backlog of hyper-automation, AI-supported workflows and technology needs.
• Track and report success measures and ROI of AI-supported workflows and new technology opportunities.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence or a related technical discipline.
• About 2-3 years of professional experience in software development, data science, automation or AI-related roles.
• Foundational understanding of software development practices and solution lifecycle management.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, and excellent written and spoken English.

Required skills

• Hands-on experience with modern AI tools such as OpenAI or Azure OpenAI, CustomGPTs, Microsoft Copilot or similar enterprise AI platforms.

What we offer

• A competitive salary of 22,800 EUR to 34,200 EUR in Slovakia, depending on experience, skills and qualifications.
