Junior Economist – Hybrid Role

About the role

This position is based in Bratislava within Swiss Re’s Global Economics & Themes team. As a Junior Economist you will support the development of global GDP, inflation and interest‑rate forecasts and contribute to applied economic research for one of the world’s leading reinsurance firms.

Key responsibilities

• Assist senior macroeconomists in assessing economic variables (GDP, inflation, fiscal and monetary policy, interest rates) for major economies.
• Monitor geopolitical and structural macro‑economic trends that may affect regional and global outlooks.
• Support macro‑economic risk and scenario analysis and help build data‑driven monitoring tools for the team’s “house views”.
• Design and improve models used for macro‑economic and financial‑market analysis.
• Provide economic inputs for internal planning activities such as capital financial plans, stress‑test scenarios and IFRS discounting of insurance liabilities.
• Conduct literature and data reviews for research projects and contribute to Swiss Re Institute thought‑leadership reports.
• Prepare high‑quality presentations for external client outreach and support senior management with slide design and background notes.

Required profile

• University degree in Economics, Finance or a related quantitative field.
• Strong analytical mindset with the ability to work autonomously and adapt to a fast‑changing environment.
• Excellent teamwork and communication skills for frequent interaction with internal stakeholders.
• Interest in macro‑economic research and reinsurance market dynamics.
