Principal Application Engineer – SiC Products

About the role

onsemi is seeking an experienced engineer to join the SiC Product Division as a Principal Applications Engineer. You will evaluate new Silicon Carbide technologies, validate next‑generation SiC products, and support their release to production while performing theoretical analysis, simulation, and hands‑on bench testing. The role involves frequent interaction with global customers and cross‑functional teams, influencing future product roadmaps, and includes up to 10 % travel.

Key responsibilities

• Evaluate and validate advanced SiC products.
• Work in a modern, well‑equipped high‑power laboratory.
• Design and test evaluation boards, and author application notes and datasheets.
• Partner with marketing to create collateral and support tradeshows.
• Collaborate with customers on complex power semiconductor challenges and build long‑term technical relationships.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD in Electrical Engineering with 10+ years of relevant experience.
• Experience with SiC product validation (strongly preferred).
• Strong understanding of power converter topologies.
• Solid knowledge of SiC device behavior and key trade‑offs.
• Familiarity with control theory, analog circuits, power‑supply design, and basic digital electronics.
• Experience with PCB layout, LabVIEW and/or Python is a plus.
• Proficiency with SPICE simulators, SIMPLIS/Simetrix, and MATLAB or equivalent tools.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
