Data Engineer – Financial Services

About the role

As a Data Engineer you will support agile projects across the conceptual and technical design, development and optimisation of data architectures. You will work from business analysis and functional design through technical implementation, using modern methods and technologies to create efficient, transparent and high‑quality data solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Support challenging agile projects covering the full lifecycle of data architecture design, development and optimisation.
• Take on data‑engineering, business‑analysis and solution‑design tasks while building knowledge of data‑architecture aspects through project work and internal training.
• Design and implement highly efficient, transparent and high‑quality data‑architecture solutions using modern methods and technologies.
• Progressively own topics, lead sub‑projects and smaller project teams on architecture‑related assignments.
• Contribute to internal initiatives, help develop them and put your own ideas into practice.

Required profile

• University degree in computer science, business information systems, engineering, natural sciences or a comparable discipline.
• Practical project experience in conceptual design and implementation of data architectures such as data lakes and data warehouses.
• At least three years of development experience with SQL and solid Python skills, plus experience in conceptual data modelling.
• Experience with cloud platforms (GCP, Azure, AWS) and Big Data or enterprise‑wide databases.
• Some experience in consulting or banking environments.
• Collaborative team player with strong analytical and conceptual abilities.
• Fluent in English; German is a strong advantage.
