Technical Architect

About the role

Swiss Re is hiring a Technical Architect for its Architecture & QA team within Group Functions Shared Engineering in Bratislava. The role defines architectural direction, sets quality guardrails and guides engineering teams toward secure, scalable solutions, while helping them adopt AI-assisted development tools responsibly.

Key responsibilities

• Define and govern architectural standards across the portfolio, aligned with enterprise architecture, security and compliance
• Run architectural reviews and design assessments, and develop reusable patterns and reference architectures
• Drive SDLC and QA maturity, track technical debt and architectural health through metrics and dashboards
• Coach engineering teams and collaborate with engineering leads, product owners and enterprise architects
• Evaluate emerging technologies and lead the adoption of AI-assisted tools such as AI code generation, automated testing, intelligent code review and developer copilot technologies
• Build the business case for AI tooling, train teams on AI-augmented development, and work with enterprise architecture and security teams on compliance and risk

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Technical or Senior Software Architect governing architecture across complex, multi-team environments
• Strong knowledge of enterprise architecture frameworks and governance (e.g. TOGAF or equivalent)
• Understanding of security-by-design, DevSecOps and QA frameworks within the SDLC
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills

Required skills

• Cloud-native architecture (AWS, Azure or GCP), including microservices, API-first approaches and infrastructure as code
• .NET technologies (.NET Core, ASP.NET, C#) within a Microsoft stack
• Nice to have: software engineering background, SDLC maturity models, platform engineering or DevEx experience, and practical experience with tools such as GitHub Copilot, Amazon CodeWhisperer or Cursor

The company uses a hybrid model with at least three days in the office per week. For Slovakia, the base salary range is EUR 3,800 to EUR 6,300 per month for a full-time role.
