Senior Legal Counsel (Technology Agreements & Data Protection)

About the role

ESET is looking for a Senior Legal Counsel to support its business and technology departments in change initiatives and to draft technology-related contracts with enterprise customers and business partners. The role focuses on complex software agreements, especially SaaS agreements, and requires strong knowledge of GDPR, international data transfers and EU technology and cybersecurity legislation.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, review and negotiate standalone technology agreements and related documentation such as Terms and Conditions, DPAs and Privacy Policies
• Prepare complex legal analyses and give tailored legal guidance to business and technology teams on software/IT law and data protection
• Act as subject matter expert on technology agreements, keeping them compliant with industry standards and best practices
• Keep up with legal developments in IT and data protection, identify risks and opportunities and improve legal processes and contract templates
• Represent the company in negotiations with external parties

Required profile

• Advanced legal degree (Mgr. or LLM)
• At least 8 years of post-graduate legal experience, including at least 5 years in a law firm or as in-house counsel
• Proven track record of strategic legal guidance and complex IT agreements, with a background in personal data protection and EU regulations for the technology sector
• Clear, persuasive legal advice, strong negotiation and communication skills, and ability to work independently and in teams

Required skills

• Legal English at C1 level (agreements are almost exclusively in English)
• GDPR, international data transfers and data protection frameworks
• EU technology and cybersecurity legislation (AI Act, NIS2, Cyber Resilience Act, EU Cybersecurity Act, DORA)
