Senior Data Scientist - Data and Analytics Specialist

About the role

The Enabling Advanced Analytics team, part of Business Operations and Enablement within P&C Re Operations, develops and maintains the analytics landscape supporting underwriting operations, technical accounting and claims operations, claims management, in-force management and client audit. As a Senior Data Scientist based in Bratislava, you will take ownership of high-priority analytics initiatives from the initial business problem through proof of concept to a production-ready solution, working closely with the Advanced Analytics Lead, IT colleagues and senior international business stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Translate business needs into clear analytical problem statements and practical data-driven solutions.
• Apply statistical modelling, machine learning, data mining and visualization to generate actionable insights.
• Deliver end-to-end data science solutions, from exploratory proof of concept to production deployment.
• Work with business and IT teams to build robust, scalable solutions.
• Apply NLP and generative AI approaches, including LLMs, prompt engineering and retrieval-augmented generation.
• Identify gaps in available data and recommend improvements to data collection.
• Manage stakeholder expectations and take ownership of projects with measurable business impact.

Required profile

• Hands-on data science professional able to connect technical possibilities with real business needs.
• Comfortable taking ownership, working through ambiguity and explaining complex topics to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Nice to have: previous exposure to insurance or reinsurance.

Required skills

• Strong foundation in statistics and probability.
• Classical machine learning: linear and logistic regression, decision trees, random forests, XGBoost or LightGBM, k-means or hierarchical clustering, PCA and other dimensionality reduction.
• Feature engineering, hyperparameter tuning and model evaluation.
• NLP and applied generative AI use cases such as LLMs, prompt engineering or RAG.
• Python and Spark or PySpark; experience with common ML/AI libraries.
• Nice to have: SQL and Power BI.

What we offer

• Base salary in Slovakia of EUR 2,400 to EUR 4,100 per month for a full-time role, depending on profile and requirements.
