Parts Specialist

About the role

The Parts Specialist provides high‑level service to retail and installer customers in an automotive parts store. The role supports store management with daily operational tasks and ensures customers receive accurate parts information and a friendly experience.

Key responsibilities

• Greet walk‑in customers, assist with merchandise selection, and promote company service programs.
• Answer phone inquiries, look up parts, quote prices, recommend related items, and apply the Low‑Price Guarantee.
• Handle cash drawer, process payments, and manage exchanges and returns according to policy.
• Maintain store presentation: stock shelves, update planograms, receive freight, and keep the sales floor clean.
• Prepare merchandise returns, conduct inventory adjustments, and perform cycle counts.
• Operate brake lathe and other test equipment after training.
• Perform in‑store services such as wiper installation, battery testing, charging system checks, diagnostic code scanning, and headlight capsule replacement where legally permitted.
• Occasionally drive a delivery vehicle when business needs require.
• Address customer complaints and perform any additional duties assigned by management.

Required profile

• Strong ability to quickly match alphanumeric sequences.
• Excellent, friendly, and professional customer service orientation.
• Capability to multitask, handling phone and in‑store customers simultaneously.
• Valid driving record that meets company eligibility requirements.

Required skills

• Familiarity with automotive parts cataloging and the Weatherly index system.
• Knowledge of automotive sales or service processes.
• ASE certification (or equivalent automotive technical certification).
• Proficiency in operating a brake lathe and other store test equipment.
• Ability to perform basic vehicle services: wiper installation, battery testing, charging system testing, diagnostic code scanning, and headlight capsule replacement.
