Global Head of Payroll (Hybrid)

About the role

Swiss Re is seeking a seasoned payroll leader to head its Global Payroll function. In this high‑impact role you will oversee end‑to‑end payroll operations across multiple countries, ensuring accuracy, compliance and a superior employee experience while driving transformation through automation and AI.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and develop a high‑performing global payroll team, setting expectations and coaching for delivery across complex multi‑country scenarios.
• Drive payroll transformation, standardising processes, enhancing systems, and implementing automation/AI initiatives.
• Own payroll governance, controls and compliance, ensuring audit readiness, data security and regulatory adherence.
• Manage vendor relationships, procurement and contracts for payroll outsourcing, including SOC 1/SOC 2 assurance reviews.
• Oversee financial management, budgeting, tax reporting and statutory filings for all jurisdictions.
• Ensure robust payroll systems and data integrity in partnership with HR and Finance.
• Leverage analytics to report on payroll costs, trends, service performance and emerging best practices.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading global payroll operations in a multi‑country environment.
• Strong knowledge of payroll governance, compliance and audit requirements.
• Demonstrated ability to drive transformation and implement technology‑enabled solutions.
• Experience managing external payroll providers and contractual negotiations.
• Excellent stakeholder management with Finance, Risk, Audit and HR functions.
