Data Engineer

About the role

Swiss Re is recruiting a Data Engineer for its Infotech Data & Analytics team in Bratislava. The role designs, builds and optimises the data pipelines and platforms that feed decision-making across the group, working with engineers, architects, analysts and product owners to deliver scalable, reliable data solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop robust, scalable data pipelines and transformation workflows
• Build and maintain data models and transformation logic, documented and ready for analysis
• Engineer and optimise solutions on cloud platforms such as Palantir Foundry
• Write clean, efficient Python/PySpark code to process large datasets
• Work with product owners, architects and analysts to turn business needs into technical solutions
• Build dashboards and analytical applications with Palantir Workshop
• Troubleshoot data issues and champion data governance, lineage and documentation
• Keep up with emerging data engineering, cloud and AI technologies

Required profile

• Proven hands-on experience building data pipelines, transformation models and analytical data assets at scale
• Strong Python and/or PySpark skills for processing large datasets
• Ability to turn complex data into clear, actionable visualisations
• Experience using AI coding assistants (e.g. GitHub Copilot) and AI-driven pipeline automation
• Nice to have: agility, product-oriented ways of working and familiarity with sprint planning and backlog refinement

What we offer

• Base salary in Slovakia of EUR 2,400 to EUR 4,100 per month for a full-time role, adjusted to profile and experience
