Chief Accountant Slovakia

About the role

As Chief Accountant for Slovakia, you will be the key finance expert ensuring the integrity, accuracy and compliance of Avon’s financial reporting and statutory accounting. You will work closely with local and global finance teams, shared service partners, auditors and external advisors to drive operational excellence in a dynamic multinational environment. The position is a 2‑year fixed‑term contract based in Bratislava or Prague.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain accurate accounting records in line with statutory requirements and Avon corporate policies.
• Review monthly financial closing reports and support corporate reporting activities.
• Manage US GAAP to statutory accounting adjustments and related processes.
• Prepare and submit statutory financial statements and other regulatory filings on time.
• Lead annual statutory audit activities and act as primary contact for external auditors.
• Oversee financial inspections, audits and regulatory reviews.
• Provide analysis and commentary on financial results to support planning and forecasting.
• Review balance‑sheet reconciliations performed by Global Business Services and Centers of Excellence.
• Own assigned financial controls, including SOX compliance, remediation plans and control enhancements.
• Monitor changes in local accounting, tax and regulatory requirements and implement necessary updates.
• Build and maintain relationships with external statutory service providers and advisors.

Required profile

• Relevant accounting qualification (e.g., CPA, ACCA) and solid experience in statutory accounting.
• Proven experience with US GAAP and local Slovak accounting standards.
• Demonstrated ability to lead audit processes and interact with external auditors.
• Strong understanding of SOX compliance and internal control frameworks.
• Experience working in a multinational corporate environment.
