Student Application Engineer (Part-Time)

About the role

This part‑time position is aimed at students who are passionate about technology, coding and building real‑world solutions. You will join an international engineering team at a leading reinsurance company, gaining hands‑on experience with cloud‑native platforms and generative AI tools while contributing to production applications used worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Contribute to real software projects, applying growing technical knowledge to engineering challenges.
• Develop and improve modern web applications and services built with Java, Spring Boot, Angular and TypeScript.
• Collaborate with engineers, analysts and stakeholders across Zurich, Bratislava and India to solve complex problems.
• Participate in code reviews, team discussions and adopt industry best practices.
• Support the development and adoption of AI‑powered solutions, including AI‑assisted coding assistants and knowledge‑discovery tools.
• Experiment with generative AI tools to accelerate engineering workflows.
• Help maintain application quality through testing, monitoring and continuous improvement.
• Create and update technical documentation to share knowledge within the team.

Required profile

• Currently enrolled in a university program, preferably in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field.
• Strong curiosity for cloud platforms, modern software development and AI technologies.
• Willingness to learn on the job and collaborate in a global, multicultural team.
• Good communication skills and a proactive attitude toward problem solving.
