Software Engineer – Network Controller

About the role

As a Software Engineer on Cisco's Crosswork Hierarchical Controller (HCO) team, you will help evolve a network controller that delivers visibility, assurance, analytics, and service provisioning across complex IP and optical networks. You will work with cross‑functional partners to turn service‑provider requirements into secure, scalable, and reliable software solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain shared frameworks, backend services, APIs, and web applications for network observability and management.
• Improve scalability and performance of applications across services and user interfaces.
• Apply security, privacy, and resilience best practices throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Build agentic workflows and integrate AI‑powered capabilities into product experiences.
• Collaborate with product management, design/UX, system and network architects, technical support, and customer‑facing teams.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent practical experience.
• 3+ years of software engineering experience.
• Hands‑on development with Python or Go for backend services.
• Experience building modern web applications with TypeScript and React.
• Familiarity with REST or RESTCONF API development and OpenAPI specifications.
• Proficiency with Linux and distributed services in Kubernetes environments.
• Experience using AI‑assisted development tools such as Codex, Cursor, or GitHub Copilot.
