Senior Software Engineer – Railway Signaling Systems On-Board

About the role

At Siemens Mobility you will develop and maintain safety‑critical railway signalling and train protection software used worldwide. You will become the product expert for the LZB80 train protection system while also supporting the Trainguard Basic Indusi (TGBI) platform, participating in customer projects and field validation activities.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, maintain and enhance C/C++ software for LZB80 and TGBI systems.
• Analyze field incidents, troubleshoot defects and improve existing legacy code bases.
• Support system‑level analysis, architectural decisions and documentation for long‑term product sustainability.
• Collaborate with system engineers, testers and project teams across international locations.
• Participate in train test runs and on‑site validation, occasionally travelling to customer sites in Germany.

Required profile

• Strong software development experience in C and C++ with a focus on legacy code maintenance.
• Proven analytical and troubleshooting skills for complex technical systems.
• Ability to work independently and communicate effectively in English and German.
• Willingness to travel occasionally for field validation activities.
