Senior Network Automation Engineer - Industrial AI Cloud

About the role

Deutsche Telekom IT Solutions Slovakia is looking for a Senior Network Automation Engineer for its Industrial AI Cloud project, which is developed jointly with NVIDIA for European manufacturers. The role builds and automates the network platform for switches, firewalls, routers and border gateways, coordinates with Infrastructure and Platform teams and works with ITIL processes. It is a customer-facing role delivering tailored solutions and consultancy.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate network lifecycle activities (installations, upgrades, changes, firmware updates) with the Data Center, IaaS and PaaS layers, and manage network interconnections and documentation.
• Provision and maintain InfiniBand switches and firewall configurations according to ITIL standards.
• Develop and maintain automation scripts and fine-tune configurations throughout the project.
• Maintain network environments, apply patches and manage firmware upgrades at scale.
• Follow incident, problem and change management workflows, write runbooks and SOPs, and adhere to Zero Outage guidelines.
• Work with Platform Engineers and AI solution teams, and mentor and train colleagues.
• Act as technical lead, advise customers and employees, and take part in on-call duties.

Required profile

• Experience with Linux networking (Cumulus/Ubuntu/Debian), Linux engineering and troubleshooting.
• NVIDIA/Mellanox switch configuration and UFM management.
• Data center routing (BGP/OSPF), IP transit, peering and failover.
• FortiGate firewall management, security segmentation, DDoS mitigation and zero-trust networking.
• Basic overview of InfiniBand, RoCE and AI/HPC networking; familiarity with NOC/SOC operations and on-call rotation.
• B2 English; German is an advantage.
• Good communication, analytical thinking, presentation and negotiation skills; basic project management and leadership skills.
