Engineering Manager

About the role

Swiss Re is looking for an Engineering Manager to lead the NatCat (Natural Catastrophe) engineering organization. You will be responsible for delivering and operating critical NatCat platforms, ensuring they are reliable, scalable, and aligned with business strategies.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and develop a multidisciplinary team of software engineers, platform engineers, and technical specialists.
• Foster a culture of ownership, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
• Conduct performance reviews, career development, hiring, succession planning, and talent management.
• Define and drive the technology roadmap for NatCat platforms and services.
• Guide architectural decisions, ensuring alignment with enterprise standards and strategic objectives.
• Promote engineering best practices across software development, testing, security, cloud adoption, and operations.
• Support engineers in expanding technical expertise, leadership capabilities, and AI adoption practices.

Required profile

• Proven experience in engineering leadership and people management.
• Strong background in building highly available, massively scalable cloud applications.
• Ability to balance long‑term platform evolution with operational stability.
• Excellent collaboration skills with business stakeholders and cross‑functional tech teams.
