Business Unit Manager – Gastro (Czech Republic & Slovakia)

About the role

The Business Unit Manager Gastro will lead the strategic, commercial and financial direction of AbbVie’s Gastro portfolio across the Czech Republic and Slovakia. The role is responsible for defining brand strategy, driving sustainable growth, and overseeing the commercial organization while ensuring compliance and keeping patients at the centre of decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Define and drive the overall Gastro business strategy across the Czech Republic and Slovakia, aligning with AbbVie’s strategic priorities.
• Build and lead cross‑functional Brand Teams, In‑Field Teams and internal stakeholders to ensure integrated planning and execution.
• Own end‑to‑end brand strategy and tactical execution, translating priorities into a commercial plan that delivers growth, margin and market impact.
• Account for brand financial performance, managing the Financial Plan, Focus/Update and Long‑Range Plan processes and ensuring P&L delivery.
• Set strategic direction for current and future products, identifying new business opportunities to strengthen long‑term commercial performance.
• Lead, coach and develop the Sales and Marketing team, fostering a high‑engagement, high‑accountability culture and leveraging digital and AI tools.
• Establish performance expectations through target setting, incentive design, KPI management and field effectiveness measures.
• Translate market intelligence and business data into strategic decisions and communicate priorities clearly to the field.

Required profile

• Master’s or Bachelor’s degree.
• Proven leadership experience in sales and marketing within the biotech or pharmaceutical industry.
• Strong track record of defining strategy and translating it into measurable, executable business plans.
• Demonstrated success in leading, coaching and developing teams, including talent development and performance management.
• Local language proficiency (Czech or Slovak) and fluency in English, both spoken and written.
