Manager – Indirect Tax Compliance (EMEIA)

About the role

As a Manager in the Global Compliance and Reporting team, you will lead indirect tax compliance for large multinational clients across EMEIA. You will act as the primary VAT controller, ensuring accurate and timely VAT/GST filings while supporting advisory and technology initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the central point of contact for international clients and EY colleagues on European VAT compliance.
• Monitor and provide feedback on the quality of clients' indirect tax data, leveraging AI and other technologies.
• Review and approve indirect tax returns for accuracy and compliance.
• Track legislative and business changes to keep client systems and processes up‑to‑date.
• Identify issues and opportunities to continuously improve VAT compliance processes and client data.
• Coordinate VAT compliance advisory, technology, controversy, and audit support.
• Collaborate with other VAT controllers and report to the client’s Process Owner (Senior Manager or above).
• Supervise, coach, and lead junior and senior team members.
• Expand the relationship network with existing clients and contribute to commercial initiatives.

Required profile

• Proven experience in indirect tax (VAT/GST) compliance for multinational organisations.
• Strong knowledge of European VAT legislation and reporting requirements.
• Ability to manage cross‑border client relationships and deliver high‑quality service.
• Leadership experience supervising and developing junior staff.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
• Client‑centric mindset with the ability to work in a collaborative, multi‑disciplinary environment.
