Tax Specialist – Direct Tax (Germany & Austria)

About the role

The Tax Specialist is responsible for ensuring efficient, effective, and high‑quality processes related to local tax compliance for Germany and Austria. You will act as a trusted partner for tax‑related questions, support business operations, and help mitigate tax risks.

Key responsibilities

• Overall responsibility for direct taxation, withholding tax and tax accounting.
• Ensure compliance of tax processes and drive continuous improvement.
• Serve as the primary contact for tax questions arising from projects or day‑to‑day operations.
• Identify, evaluate, and report tax risks.
• Monitor performance metrics and implement process enhancements.
• Manage and contribute to the mitigation of identified tax risks.

Required profile

• University degree focused on taxation or a comparable qualification.
• 5–7 years of professional tax experience in an international company or Big 4 firm.
• Strong business acumen and intercultural competence.
• Process‑oriented mindset with a hands‑on attitude.
• Fluent in English and German; additional EU or foreign language is a plus.

Required skills

• SAP knowledge.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
