Solution Design Engineer

About the role

Freshfields is looking for a Solution Designer in Bratislava who is curious about the future of AI and can turn that curiosity into practical outcomes. You will follow emerging AI trends, learn the firm's internal AI tool stack quickly and act as a trusted advisor to teams, guiding them on the right tools for each use case, especially process automation and intelligent solutions. You will design fit-for-purpose solutions, explain your reasoning clearly and defend your approach to architects and technical stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Turn business, functional and non-functional requirements into actionable technical designs and specifications.
• Integrate AI and automation technologies (e.g. Power Automate, UiPath) into solution blueprints.
• Ensure solutions are secure, performant, scalable and compliant in cloud (Azure) and hybrid environments.
• Design modern APIs, integration patterns and data flows with engineers, DevOps, service management and infrastructure teams.
• Act as design authority in Agile delivery teams, supporting sprint planning, technical guidance and continuous improvement.
• Produce high-quality design artefacts, maintain architectural governance and keep up to date with emerging technology trends.

Required profile

• Proven ability to design and deliver enterprise-scale technology solutions.
• Hands-on experience with AI, automation, cloud-native design or digital workflow modernisation.
• Experience designing solutions that work with legacy systems, SaaS and enterprise applications.
• Certifications such as TOGAF, Azure/GCP Architect, ITIL, PRINCE2, Agile/Scrum, Azure AI Engineer, UiPath or Power Automate are an advantage.

Required skills

• Working knowledge of software engineering practices (version control, CI/CD, code reviews) and languages such as C#, Python, JavaScript and SQL.
• Experience with APIs, REST, integration and data modelling, middleware, message queues (e.g. Kafka, Service Bus) and ETL/ELT workflows.
