Senior Software Architect - Mobile

About the role

Caterpillar’s digital arm, Cat Digital, is looking for a Senior Software Architect to lead the design and architecture of cross‑platform mobile applications. You will work closely with engineering leadership in Slovakia and the US to deliver high‑impact digital solutions for heavy‑machinery customers.

Key responsibilities

• Define functional designs and system architecture across multiple digital platforms.
• Develop detailed architecture deliverables that solve business problems.
• Oversee cross‑platform mobile application architecture and manage technical priorities.
• Lead evaluation and deployment of new technologies to enhance digital capabilities.
• Translate business requirements into technical direction, mentor engineering teams, and guide cross‑functional design discussions.
• Coordinate with upstream teams, assess dependencies, and decide on service reuse or new implementation.
• Support bug triage and coordinate resolution of complex, multi‑team issues.
• Ensure solutions meet security, performance, reliability, scalability, observability, and maintainability standards.

Required profile

• Experience in incremental modernization, continuous improvement, and pragmatic trade‑offs.
• Strong analytical thinking and ability to root‑cause organizational problems.
• Knowledge of application, data, IT, and platform architecture principles.
• Proven leadership of responsive design and mobile development teams.
• Formal education in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related field.
• Passion for design systems, code reusability, and maintainability.
