Senior Python & Databricks Developer

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Python & Databricks Developer to join Zurich’s newly created Risk Accumulation Management Platform (RAMP) team in Bratislava. The role focuses on building reliable data products, APIs and ETL pipelines that support catastrophe modelling, exposure management and risk accumulation.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and deploy Python‑based data services and applications on Databricks.
• Build robust ETL/ELT pipelines for risk, exposure and modelling data, optimizing Delta tables and Lakehouse workflows.
• Translate complex business rules into maintainable, tested code and create real‑time or batch APIs.
• Improve performance, scalability, reliability and cost efficiency of data solutions.
• Implement data validation, monitoring, logging, alerting and automated testing.
• Collaborate with data engineers, architects, technology teams and business stakeholders.

Required profile

• Strong professional experience delivering production‑grade Python solutions.
• Hands‑on expertise with Databricks, Apache Spark and Delta Lake.
• Proficiency in SQL and working with structured data.
• Ability to analyse ambiguous requirements and design practical solutions.
• Solid understanding of software engineering best practices (Git, CI/CD, automated testing, DevOps).
• Excellent written and spoken English.
