Senior Product Designer – AI Coding Platform
Cast AI
Job description
About the role
We are looking for a senior product designer to join the small, senior Kimchi design team. You will work with engineers and platform teams building AI‑assisted coding tools, shaping the product while getting hands‑on with the codebase.
Key responsibilities
- Own problems end‑to‑end across the Kimchi surface – CLI, desktop app, inference/spend console, or developer tooling – from research through shipped design and measured outcome.
- Lead user research initiatives independently: plan, run, synthesize findings and turn them into product direction.
- Prototype in code where it’s faster than Figma, using AI‑assisted workflows to test ideas directly in the product.
- Bring a point of view to product strategy conversations, backed by usage data, research evidence and competitor awareness.
- Participate in cross‑squad design reviews to raise quality, catch overlap early and stay aware of other designers’ work.
- Track design debt in your area and push its prioritisation when risk factors or user feedback make it urgent.
Required profile
- A portfolio or case study showing senior‑level design work on developer tools, AI/LLM products, coding agents, or other technical, data‑heavy SaaS platforms.
- Track record of owning research end‑to‑end and using it to influence product direction.
- Comfort working directly with AI‑assisted development workflows (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor) and a genuine interest in staying hands‑on with the codebase.
- Ability to operate with a strong point of view under ambiguity and defend decisions without a fixed process.
- Experience designing for technical, engineering‑savvy users and holding your own in conversations about APIs, architecture and system constraints.
- Strong async communication – clear written documents and convincing arguments in writing.
Required skills
- Design of developer tools, AI/LLM products or data‑heavy SaaS platforms.
- User research end‑to‑end.
- Prototyping in code using AI‑assisted workflows.
- Understanding of CLI or terminal‑based interfaces (nice to have).
- Familiarity with desktop app design (nice to have).
What we offer
- Competitive salary (€4500‑€7000 gross per month).
- Equity options.
- Flexible, remote‑first global environment.
- Learning budget, 10% of work time for personal projects, and access to international conferences.
- Annual hackathon, team‑building budget, equipment budget and extra days off.
