Senior Consultant – Indirect Tax Compliance (EMEIA)

About the role

EY’s Global Compliance and Reporting (GCR) team is seeking a Senior Consultant to join its Indirect Tax Compliance practice in Slovakia. You will support large multinational clients on VAT/GST compliance across the EMEIA region, acting as the assistant VAT Controller and ensuring high‑quality tax data and filings.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the central point of contact for international clients and EY colleagues on European VAT and GST compliance.
• Monitor and provide feedback on the quality of client indirect‑tax data using AI‑driven tools and other technologies.
• Review, approve and file indirect‑tax returns for assigned clients.
• Track legislative and business changes to keep client systems and processes up‑to‑date.
• Identify issues and opportunities to continuously improve VAT compliance processes and client data.
• Coordinate VAT advisory, technology, controversy and audit support activities.
• Report to the client’s Process Owner (Senior Manager or above) and collaborate with other VAT controllers.
• Supervise, coach and develop junior team members.

Required profile

• Senior‑level professional with proven experience in VAT/GST compliance for multinational organisations.
• Strong client‑facing skills and ability to act as a trusted advisor.
• Excellent analytical abilities and attention to detail.
• Capability to lead and mentor junior staff.

Required skills

• In‑depth knowledge of EU VAT and GST regulations.
• Experience with indirect‑tax data quality assessment.
• Familiarity with tax technology tools and AI‑driven data validation.
