Security Engineer (Linux & Container Security)

About the role

Avenga is looking for an experienced Security Engineer to join its Bratislava team within the telecom sector. You will design, implement and integrate security solutions across Linux systems and containerised environments, ensuring robust protection throughout the application and infrastructure lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement hardening standards for Linux operating systems and containers.
• Implement PAM/PIM solutions and privileged access management.
• Integrate SAST, DAST and SBOM checks into CI/CD pipelines.
• Own the vulnerability management process, from detection to remediation.
• Conduct penetration testing of infrastructure and applications.
• Lead incident response activities and perform security audits.

Required profile

• 3+ years of Linux system administration and hardening experience.
• Hands‑on work with SELinux/AppArmor policies, kernel hardening and secure boot.
• Experience with auditd, integrity monitoring tools such as AIDE or OSSEC.
• Automation skills using Bash and Python.
• Security configuration of server applications (Apache, Nginx, OpenSSH, databases).
• Advanced Git usage, CI/CD integration and basic security code review.
• Ability to rebuild packages/containers with patched libraries and perform SBOM analysis.
• Deep understanding of the L3‑L7 network stack, network segmentation and zero‑trust architecture.
• Knowledge of TLS/mTLS, PKI, certificate management, firewall configuration (iptables/nftables) and VPN technologies (IPsec, WireGuard).
