Python Software Engineer - AI Security Platform

About the role

ESET is hiring a Python Software Engineer for its AI and Automated Detection sub-division in Bratislava. The team builds systems that defend against cyber threats at scale, from automated threat detection processing terabytes of behavioural data to multi-agent AI systems and SOAR platforms that automate incident response. You will build the backend systems behind AI-driven threat detection, automated incident response and LLM-based security tooling, joining one of three teams depending on your interests and team needs.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain distributed backend services and processing pipelines in Python.
• Develop asynchronous, event-driven systems and message-based integrations across services.
• Choose one of three focus areas: Detection Systems (threat detection pipelines and high-volume data processing), LiveAI (multi-agent AI systems, LLM assistants and agent orchestration), or SOAR Platform (incident handling and automation workflows).
• Own services end-to-end, from design and deployment to monitoring and troubleshooting.
• Write clean, maintainable, production-ready code and collaborate with software engineers, security researchers and security operators.

Required profile

• Strong software development experience with Python.
• Experience designing and developing backend services or distributed systems.
• Understanding of asynchronous programming and distributed task processing.
• Experience with APIs and service integrations.
• Familiarity with modern software development workflows.

Required skills

• Relational databases and SQL.
• Desirable: Docker and Kubernetes, Kafka, Celery, cloud platforms (AWS, Azure), multi-agent systems, LLM tooling or prompt engineering, and cybersecurity or threat detection experience.

• Basic wage from 2,900 EUR gross per month, with possible increase for skills and experience.
