Parts Specialist – Retail & Installer Support

About the role

The Parts Specialist provides high‑level service to retail and installer customers while supporting store management with daily tasks. This position works directly with customers in‑store and over the phone, ensuring accurate parts identification, pricing, and service delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Greet walk‑in customers, assist with merchandise selection, and promote company service programs.
• Answer phone inquiries, look up parts, quote prices, recommend related items, and apply the Low‑Price Guarantee.
• Maintain cash drawer, process cash, checks, and credit card transactions accurately.
• Handle exchanges, returns, and resolve customer complaints in line with company policies.
• Perform daily store tasks such as stocking shelves, updating planograms, receiving freight, and cleaning.
• Prepare merchandise returns, conduct inventory adjustments, and participate in cycle counts.
• Operate brake lathe and other test equipment after training.
• Provide in‑store services where permitted (e.g., install wipers, test batteries, scan trouble codes).
• Occasionally deliver items using a company vehicle, meeting driving eligibility requirements.

Required profile

• Strong, friendly, and professional customer‑service orientation.
• Ability to multitask, handling phone and in‑store customers simultaneously.
• Attention to detail and accuracy in cash handling and parts lookup.
• Willingness to complete required training and certifications.

Required skills

• Brake lathe operation
• Automotive parts cataloging and Weatherly index system familiarity
• ASE certification (or ability to obtain)
• Quick alphanumeric sequence matching
