Junior Python Developer – Commercial Insurance IT

About the role

Join Zurich's Commercial Insurance IT team as a Junior Python Developer, working on a Global Rating Engine that powers actuarial pricing models and rate tables. You will collaborate with an international group of developers, architects, analysts and business stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain robust Python rating engines for multiple commercial insurance segments.
• Write clean, efficient, testable code following best‑practice Python standards.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to deliver high‑quality software solutions.
• Identify commonalities across calculation models and promote reusable modules.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues and support unit testing and UAT.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field.
• Hands‑on experience with Python programming.
• Understanding of OOP, software design principles and patterns.
• Experience with containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes) and micro‑services architecture.
• Proficiency with relational and NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, MongoDB).
• Good problem‑solving, communication and teamwork skills.
• Working proficiency in English.
