Data Architect

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Data Architect to support data and AI transformation projects in a regulated financial‑services environment. You will design scalable data foundations that connect business needs, governance requirements and technical delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the conceptual and technical design, development and optimisation of data architecture from business analysis to implementation and integration.
• Define the cloud data foundation using Azure Databricks, onboarding sources to the raw (Bronze) layer and transforming them into the curated (Silver) layer.
• Establish patterns for data modelling, storage, ETL/ELT, APIs and MCP interfaces while embedding access control, data‑loss prevention, metadata, lineage and quality requirements.
• Own architecture decisions, guide legacy decoupling and migration, and lead architecture workstreams and project teams.
• Collaborate with business, engineering, governance and operations teams, maintain documentation and support knowledge transfer to the run organisation.

Required profile

• University degree in Computer Science, Business Information Systems, Natural Sciences or a comparable discipline.
• Several years of hands‑on experience designing and implementing enterprise data architectures, cloud data platforms and storage technologies, including ETL and ELT.
• Experience delivering solutions across on‑premises and cloud environments, preferably with Azure Databricks.
• Strong data‑modelling and data‑engineering skills covering enterprise data models, SQL, NoSQL, APIs, governance, master data, metadata, lineage, access controls and data quality.
• Fluent in English; German is a plus; willingness to travel when required.
