API & Model Serving Developer – Risk Platform

About the role

Zurich Insurance is building a Risk Accumulation Management Platform (RAMP) and needs a motivated API & Model Serving Developer. You will design, build and deploy high‑performance catastrophe modelling calculations as APIs and support real‑time risk decisions. The assignment is initially planned for one year.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and deploy high‑performance catastrophe modelling calculations exposed as APIs using Databricks Model Serving.
• Develop geospatial lookup APIs for risk classification, distance measurements and geocoding.
• Implement and optimise real‑time serving endpoints with Databricks Feature Serving for low‑latency risk data retrieval.
• Ensure API performance, reliability and scalability through health monitoring, load testing and alerting.
• Collaborate with data engineers and broader technology and business teams to deliver a seamless user experience.

Required profile

• Strong experience with Python and related data‑science libraries (Pandas, NumPy, GeoPandas, Shapely, H3).
• Hands‑on experience with Databricks Model Serving and/or Feature Serving.
• Proven ability to design and build performant RESTful APIs.
• Familiarity with SQL and working in Lakehouse or data‑warehouse environments.
• Understanding of geospatial concepts such as coordinate systems, spatial indexing and proximity calculations.
• Excellent written and spoken English.
