Software Engineer (Backend)

About the role

We are looking for a Software Engineer to join Cisco’s Webex Engineering Group in Bratislava. You will help design, build and maintain backend services that power collaboration products such as Webex Meetings and Webex Calling.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and maintain new features for backend microservices.
• Participate in the full software development lifecycle, including design discussions, code reviews and testing.
• Improve performance, reliability and observability of services.
• Collaborate with product, SRE and DevOps teams to deliver high‑availability solutions.
• Assist in incident resolution and post‑mortem analysis.
• Leverage AI coding assistants (e.g., Copilot, Cursor) to increase productivity.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
• 3+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong foundation in backend development and production environments.
• Willingness to learn new technologies quickly.

• Java, Node.js, JavaScript, Python.
• Spring framework.
• PostgreSQL, MySQL, Kafka.
• Git version control.
• CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
