Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) – Open Source Databases

About the role

Join Erste Digital to help shape the digital future of millions of people by ensuring reliable, secure and scalable database services. You will work across PostgreSQL administration, cloud operations and reliability engineering in AWS and Google Cloud environments.

Key responsibilities

• Administer PostgreSQL databases across development, testing and production environments.
• Perform configuration, patching, upgrades, backups and recovery activities.
• Monitor database health, availability, performance, capacity and resource utilization.
• Troubleshoot issues, support incident resolution and conduct root‑cause analysis.
• Implement security, access management, auditing and compliance tasks.
• Support high‑availability and disaster‑recovery solutions for PostgreSQL platforms.
• Create and maintain automation scripts and Infrastructure‑as‑Code practices.

Required skills

• PostgreSQL administration, backup & recovery, performance tuning.
• Experience with AWS (RDS, Aurora) and Google Cloud (Cloud SQL, AlloyDB) managed database services.
• Scripting in Bash or Python and basic Linux/Unix administration.
• Infrastructure‑as‑Code tools such as Terraform and Ansible.
• Container orchestration with Kubernetes and monitoring with Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog or OpenTelemetry.
