Senior Playful Engineer

About the role

Ciklum is seeking a Senior Playful Engineer to join its Slovakia hub. You will work on a performance‑critical, user‑facing product loved by children and adults, ensuring the experience is smooth, intuitive and bug‑free. The role combines development in a proprietary language (similar to C/C++) with Python‑based tooling and automation.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop new software features for a performance‑critical product.
• Re‑architect existing components and create new product versions.
• Integrate multiple tech stacks onto a unified platform.
• Develop supporting tools, linters, debuggers and build systems.
• Analyze system constraints and optimise for performance, memory and concurrency.
• Collaborate with designers to translate requirements into robust technical solutions.
• Participate in code reviews, mentor mid‑level engineers and troubleshoot complex codebases.

Required profile

• Strong engineering intuition with a senior‑level software architecture mindset.
• Zero‑tolerance for bugs and strong debugging skills.
• Self‑management ability to drive tasks from design to delivery independently.
• Proficient verbal and written communication in English.

Required skills

• Python (production‑quality code)
• Git version control
• C / C++ (or interest in evolving language stack)
• Rust or embedded‑systems experience
• Knowledge of compilers, LLVM, GCC or similar frameworks
• Docker
• Mobile platform experience (touch input, camera, GPS, Bluetooth, push notifications)
